Meet Michelle

Coaching is fundamentally about upgrading your current operating system—bringing intentional awareness to where you want to go in life and helping you develop a system and plan to get there. As your coach, I’ll guide you in aligning your daily choices with your deepest values, empowering you to live with integrity and experience the benefits that come from doing the hard work. I’ve spent my life striving to do just that, and I can tell you—it’s absolutely worth it!I bring to the coaching table my background as a licensed social worker, a health systems manager, and the wife of a functional medicine physician—but most of all, I bring unflagging enthusiasm for wellness.

My Journey to Coaching

Health has always been a top priority for me, but I didn’t always have great information. I came of age in the ‘90s, when low-fat diets ruled the conversation. In my twenties, I followed the trend—eating salads with fat-free dressing, lots of fruit, and egg whites cooked in as little oil as possible. I remember feeling constantly hungry, especially after workouts, but I assumed that was normal.

It wasn’t until my late thirties and forties that I discovered the power of whole, locally sourced, and unprocessed foods. My kids still roll their eyes when they remember the long road trips to Vermont just to pick up non-pasteurized, grass-fed milk! But those experiences taught me that food isn’t just fuel—it’s medicine.

While raising my children, I built a career as a marriage and family therapist. I earned my MSW from Temple University and an MAR in Arts & Religion from Westminster Seminary, both in Philadelphia. Following my husband’s medical residency, we lived on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, where I worked as a counselor within a traditional Indigenous culture. I found that running and hiking through the stunning red mesas at sunset restored me as I adjusted to cross-cultural work.

Movement, Mindset & Motivation

I’ve always done my best thinking while moving. Exercise has been a non-negotiable part of my life, whether it was pushing a jogging stroller when my kids were young or, more recently, running with a women’s group that keeps nudging me into signing up for new races. I firmly believe movement is essential for managing the stress of life. But it hasn’t always come easily—there were plenty of food fights at the dinner table with my kids and strategic debates about how to handle social eating. Even now, I have to remind myself to go to bed instead of staying up late chatting, knowing that the early-
morning alarm won’t wait!

What keeps me motivated? The way health feels. Waking up energized instead of sluggish. That first hit of cold New England air on a morning run by the Merrimack River. The steady, grounded energy that comes from nourishing my body well. A life fueled by movement and a diet of whole foods and endorphin highs simply can’t be beat.

Functional Medicine & Coaching

When my husband shifted toward functional medicine around 2015, I became fascinated by its approach—getting to the root cause of illness and using food, movement, and mindset as medicine. The idea that nutrition, exercise, and meditation could literally change gene expression and reverse-engineer disease resonated deeply with me.

Discovering the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) was a game-changer. Its curriculum combined functional medicine principles with motivational interviewing and positive psychology—an approach that felt like the perfect fit. In 2019, I earned my certification as a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and launched my coaching practice.

The best part of my work? Watching my clients live in closer alignment with their core health values and experience the joy of true well-being.

Are you ready to upgrade your operating system and take control of your health journey? Let’s work together to create a life that feels as good as it looks!

What is Coaching?

Let's Sort Through This Together

  • Feeling confused about the many “healthy eating” plans out there and unsure where to begin with using food as medicine?

  • Desperate to sleep better, have less stress, and make more space in your mind for the thoughts that matter?

  • Ready to find an exercise plan that actually works for you, so the next decade helps you feel ten years younger?

  • Wanting to trade in mindless social media scrolling for a mindful meditation practice, but intimidated to start alone?

. . . Has the stress of living scattered your purpose and focus, so now every decision yields to fits and starts, followed by long periods of no action whatsoever? If that sounds like you – you’re in good company.

Talk with a coach. Find a better inner dialogue. Begin to experience real change. Don’t go at it alone.

Let's Keep In Touch
